CUCC welcomes new officers
CUCC welcomes three new senior members to the Committee. Student officers will be elected over the Summer.
Seb Pollington is new to the Committee and takes over the Presidency from David Reynolds. He has paid tribute to David’s leadership as a ‘hard act to follow’ but he will continue to advance CUCC’s interests at the University and ambitions in the game at large.
Seb is a former UK Defence envoy and NATO advisor and previously a senior British Army officer. He has a background in sport and leadership.
His relationship with CUCC goes back a long way to when he arrived in Cambridge to head Cambridge University’s officer training corps (2010-12). He was elected an Honorary member of the Hawks’ Club in 2011 for services to student sport; and he is a leadership mentor for students on Homerton College’s Changemakers programme (since 2019).
Seb is also the current President (‘Chief’) of Kent’s leading wandering cricket club (Band of Brothers CC) and a former sub-committee member of Kent County Cricket Club.
He chaired British Army Modern Pentathlon for a decade (2010-2019), including with responsibility for coordinating support to the event at the London Olympics (2012). He mentored British pentathletes at the Paris Olympics (2024). Seb also played cricket for UK Armed Forces teams during his service.
He currently works with UK private sector foreign and defence consultancies; and for leadership development firm Performance Catalyst, founded by former first class cricketer Will Jefferson.
Richard Timms (front centre in the photo below) takes over as Senior Treasurer of CUCC, from Ken Siddle who stepped down at the recent AGM.
Richard first played for CUCC in 2005 after coming up to Clare College. He played 10 first class matches for Cambridge University and Cambridge UCCE, having also played List A cricket for Somerset Cricket Board and extensive club cricket. Richard captained Cambridge Univeristy in 2011 and 2012.
After his Ph.D. Richard spent time in the U.S., developing his immunology research and returned to Cambridge a few years ago to continue his work and support CUCC, having been part of the Committee over the past few years.
Issy Routledge, Middlesex cricketer and future trainees solicitor at Freshfields, returns after skippering the Cambridge University women in 2023 and 2024.
Issy came up to Jesus College from the Leys School where she was already playing for Cambridgeshire Women. A prolific run-scorer, wicket-taker and match-winner, Issy replaces Holy Tasker, who has been a long time Committee member and also a previous captain of CUCC Women.
